Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline date?
For Seminaries and Divinity Schools the deadline date is April 1 for first and second
semesters and the following summer sessions and October 1 for second semester and the following summer session.
For Virginia Intermont College the deadline date is April 1 for first and second semesters and October 1 for second semester only. Aid is not available for summer school.

Are state schools eligible?
No. Only the listed colleges, academies and seminaries.

Must I be a resident of certain states?
United States citizens who are residents of Virginia, North Carolina and South
Carolina may apply. Students must have lived in one of these states for at least 12
months immediately prior to entering any college, academy or seminary.
Students who move to a state to attend school are not eligible.

Are references required?
Yes. You must furnish the complete names, mailing addresses and telephone
numbers of three references. You may also wish to furnish e-mail addresses.

How do I complete the budget sheet?
The budget sheet should be completed for 12 months. You should be sure to
include all income/receipts and expenses. Your budget should show that you
need financial assistance to meet expenses. It is unlikely that a grant will be
approved if your budget sheet does not show need.

How do I apply for summer sessions?
Students in the colleges or seminaries who receive a loan or grant for the first
and/or second semesters may also qualify for a separate loan or grant for summer
school. The school you attend will be asked to notify us of students who may be
eligible summer school grants or loans.

How many hours must I carry to receive a loan or grant?
Students who enroll full-time may receive a loan or grant of the maximum
allowed for the school you attend. Students who enroll for hours between one half
and a full-course load may receive three-quarters of the maximum amount.
Students who enroll for one-half of a full course load may receive one-half of the
maximum amount. Students who carry less than one-half of a full course load do
not qualify for assistance. Students enrolled for summer sessions may bc eligible
for a separate grant.


Can I receive aid if I attend classes at an extension campus?
No. You must attend classes on the main campus.

Can I submit an application on-line?
No. You must mail the application to the office of the Keesee Fund
